The author tells the history of the country, starting with the Viking explorers, and how people and animals have settled thee over the past thousand years. Phillips informs the reader on the geography of the land, the native inhabitants, and the the climates. R A J Phillips travelled extensively to the North, providing him with the essential knowledge and experience to write this book. He was also the director of the federal government's anti-poverty program in the 1960s. With twenty-four plates of coloured and black and white photographs, and eight plates of maps. With a prior owner's ink inscription to the recto of the front endpaper ' Happy Birthday Group Captain Bader, from Alyson Smith, 21/2/69'. Collated; complete.
Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding, with the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, very smart. Light spotting and marking to the boards and spine. Minor bumping to the head of the spine, and to the extremities. With a prior owner's ink inscription to the recto of the front endpaper ' Happy Birthday Group Captain Bader, from Alyson Smith, 21/2/69'. Dustwrapper has some edgewear with just a couple of minor closed tears to the bottom of the flyleaves. Chip to the head of the spine. Light discolouration and spotting to the reverse. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean throughout.
