This first US edition of celebrated author Dick Francis' novel 'Blood Sport' was nominated for the Edgar Allan Poe Award in 1967. The novel follows Gene Hawkins, a government security agent, as he attempts to track down a hi-jacked thoroughbred stallion, discovering a good deal about himself as he journeys from the Thames to Las Vegas. Dick Francis was a RAF pilot during WW2, a successful steeplechase jockey, and crime writer, whose works deal with crimes in the horse-racing world, producing more than 40 best-sellers. First US edition, in unclipped dustwrapper. 'Blood Sport' is brilliantly exciting in Francis' classic style, exploring the adventures of a new hero in able, tough, and intelligent Gene Hawkins.
