With a tipped in signature of the author to the title page. The first edition of this work. Held in the original unclipped dustwrapper. Critically, this intellectual thriller was well received. This work takes place in and around a fictional British Army Camp somewhere in England. Sir Kingsley Amis was a popular English novelist, poet, critic and teacher. He wrote in many genres including comedy, science fiction and mystery. He was regarded as one of the finest English comic novelists of the second half of the twentieth century. Amis won many awards during his time, including the Booker Prize, which he was shortlisted for three times before finally winning in 1986.

In the original full cloth binding and held in original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, very smart with just some minor bumping to the tail of spine. Slight fading to the tail of spine. Minor offsetting to the endpapers. Dustwrapper is very smart with just some minor bumping and light rubbing to the extremities. Small closed tear to the tail of front wrap, not exceeding 1cm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
