Sir Winston's Churchill's 'History of the English Speaking Peoples' arranged for one volume by Henry Steele Commager, first thus in 1965. The original four volume series was started in 1937 and finally published 1956–1958.
A history of Britain and its former colonies and possessions throughout the world, covering from Caesar's invasions of Britain, up to the end of the Second Boer War in 1902.
This work was well-received and became a best seller on both sides of the Atlantic.
Illustrated with a coloured frontispiece and thirty three full page plates, of which one is a two-pages large plate in colour, as well as maps and genealogical tables. Collated, complete. With the price-clipped dust wrapper.
Condition
In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally lovely with only minor shelf wear and a minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine. With some small minor faint damp marking to the rear board. The dust wrapper is smart with some shelf wear and chipping as well as slightly marked to the front wrap; price clipped and tape repaired internally to the head and tail of the spine and extremities, not affecting the externals. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. Illustrated with a coloured frontispiece and thirty three full page plates, of which one is a two-pages large plate in colour, as well as maps and genealogical tables. Collated, complete.
