What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

The first UK edition, first impression, in the original unclipped dust wrapper designed by Tom Adams.

Mailer's novel follows thirty-two hours in the life of a decorated war-hero, former congressman, talk-show host, and university professor, who is depicted as the metaphorical embodiment of the American Dream.

The novel first appeared serialised in 'Esquire'.

Joan Didion reviewed the work as "the only serious New York novel since The Great Gatsby".

From the library of Hungarian-Canadian author Stephen Vizinczey, best known for his 'In Praise of Older Women', and 'An Innocent Millionaire'. His writing was praised by the likes of Graham Greene and Anthony Burgess, describing his fiction as social epics which breathe hope in a corrupt world.
