Description

This is a first edition of the work, in smart black paper boards with a decorative stamp motif to the front board and gilt to the spine. In original dust wrapper with decorative endpapers.

Len Deighton is a British author known for his novels on espionage and military history. He has written a number of works on The Cold War and World War Two, including this one and The Ipcress File, which has since been adapted into a popular film.

This particular novel is the third in the series featuring the unnamed secret agent working for the British intelligence agency. This work follows The Ipcress File and Horse Under Water, with Billion Dollar Brain following this novel in the series. As with the other novels, Funeral in Berlin has an intricate plot with many false leads and plot twists.

This particular novel is set between Saturday 5th October and Sunday 10th November 1963. It follows the protagonist travelling to Berlin to facilitate the defection of a Russian scientist. 

In a striking dust wrapper designed by English graphic designer and author, Raymond Hawkey.

Condition

In original publisher's paper boards, with the original dust wrapper. Externally, excellent, with light bumping to the extremities. Dust wrapper smart, with light edgewear. Slight age toning and sunning to the wrap, with the odd mark. Small clips to the inner flaps of the wrap. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean.
