First edition, first impression. This work contains nine short stories, alongside a novella, and is said to display 'the wit, sensibility and psychological penetration' common to the author's work. Written by Jean Stafford, an American short story writer and novelist who won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for The Collected Stories of Jean Stafford in 1970.

Condition

In the original quarter brown cloth with red paper covered boards. Externally, very smart with minor wear and the odd small mark to the boards. Original price-clipped dust wrapper is also very smart with light wear to the extremities and the odd small mark to the panels. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout.
