The set explores the exploration of the Niger following its discovery by Mungo Park, and offers a comprehensive insight into the exploration through the collation of several primary sources. A well research and comprehensive set on the subject. Illustrated with four plates and six maps to vol. I; thirty-three plates and sixteen maps to 'The Bornu Mission'. Collated, complete. From the second series publication of the Hakluyt Society, publishing scholarly editions of primary records of historic voyages and travels. Including early accounts concerning geography, ethnology, and natural history. The second series ran from 1899 to 1998 and comprised one-hundred and ninety volumes. 

Condition

In the original cloth bindings in the original unclipped dust wrappers. Externally in lovely condition. Dust wrappers are in excellent condition with minor shelf wear and slight sunning to the spine. Slight creasing to the wraps. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with just the odd spot.
