The first edition. In the publisher's full cloth binding with the original unclipped dust wrapper. With numerous tables and figures throughout, a fold out map and 108 plates to the rear of the work, many of which are in colour. Collated complete. A fascinating account of the finds from the Cave of Letters archaeological site in the Judean Desert, particularly those relating to the Bar Kokhba Period. The Bar Kokhba revolt was a rebellion by the Jewish people of Judea, led by Simon bar Kokhba, against the Roman Empire. This work was written by Yigael Yadin of The Hebrew University in Jerusalem and was created alongside the Israel Exploration Society and supported by the Bar Kokhba Foundation.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding. Externally, excellent with light shelf wear only. Previous owners name plate to the front free endpaper. Rear hinge is starting but firm. The original unclipped dustwrapper is in sound condition. Chipping and tears with some loss to the panels. Some fading and marks to the panels. Internally, firmly bound. Pages very bright and clean.
