First published in 1948, this is a sixth impression of this important essay exploring the nature and definition of culture.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) was a poet, essayist and literary critic held as being one of the most important Modernist poets writing in the English language. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1948. He wrote prolifically, producing prose, poetry, plays and non-fiction, with his works including 'The Wasteland' and 'Murder in the Cathedral'.

In the publisher's original full cloth binding with a clipped dust wrapper. Externally generally smart, with just a little wear. Dust wrapper is slightly sunned to the spine, with the odd mark. Contemporary ownership inscription to the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
