First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper
The first edition, first printing. A coming of age story concerning a British boarding school for girls. The main theme is the loss of virginity, discussed lightly, as the girls set up a plan to meet the boys in the school across the lake.
Published by Roger Longrigg Erskine under the name Rosalind Erskine, to add a layer of authenticity to the narrative.
From the library of Eric Kenneth Prentice Back. Kenn Back was a British meteorologist with the British Antarctic survey for many years. He spent eight winters in the Antarctic and is a descendent of Captain George Back. In addition, he served as base commander at Halley, Faraday and Rothera stations. His library collection was built over decades and highlights his love of polar exploration.
With unclipped dustwrapper.
In the original publisher's white cloth binding with pink flowers to front board. Externally, lovely with minor shelfwear and slight bumping to head and tail of spine. Kenn Back's bookplate to front pastedown. Loosely inserted, an article on the author and how he fooled the world as he published under the name of a fifteen year old girl, dated 2000. Dustwrapper is unclipped and excellent with minor shelfwear only. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
