First edition. With the original unclipped dust wrapper. Deighton's first spy novel, exploring the theme of Cold War brainwashing, with scenes in Lebanon and on an island for a United States atomic bomb test. Written by Len Deighton, a British author whose publications include cookery books, history and military history and spy novels.

Condition

In the original orange cloth binding. Externally, very smart with light shelf wear to the extremities. Original unclipped dust wrapper features small losses and restoration to head and tail of back strip, with edgewear to head and tail of front wrap. Internally, firmly bound, but a touch strained prior to the title page. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd handling mark or spot to gutter.
