What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Illustrated, Limited Edition, With Dustwrapper

A first edition copy, limited to 975 copies, in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. One of the leaders of the revival of wood-engraving in the 1920s, Robert Gibbings was director of the Golden Cockerel Press for nine years. The first part of the volume is a descriptive bibliography of the 67 books illustrated by Gibbings; and the second lists his work as artist, writer, printer and publisher in chronological order, and also records some publications containing references to his work. There is a note on the printing methods of the Golden Cockerel Press, contributed by A. C. Cooper who was pressman throughout the period of Gibbings' direction.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is in immaculate condition. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Dust wrapper is very smart, though sunned to the spine, with the odd spot to the wrap.
