    The first illustrated edition of this children's book comprising Eleanor Farjeon's charming narrative poem of Mrs Malone, the story of an old hermit crone who lives in the woods and welcomes to her home all the animals in need. 

    Farjeon won many literary awards for her books, and the Eleanor Farjeon Award is given annually in her memory to people who show outstanding commitment and contribution in the British children's literary world. 

    Illustrated with beautiful engravings by Edward Ardizzone.

    In the original publisher's illustrated boards. Externally excellent. The dust wrapper is unclipped and lovely with minor shelf wear only. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. Each page is illustrated with Edward Ardizzone's beautiful engravings.
