This work explains that it intends 'to present the three great facets of Sir Winston's writings - his mastery of English prose, his skill as a historian and the insight that his personal recollections' give to understanding his character. Among topics discussed by Churchill are his childhood, the problem of peace, and the first and second world wars.

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with price clipped dust wrapper. Shelf wear to back strip head. Otherwise, externally exceptionally bright. Light discoloration to dust wrapper back strip. Library number to tail of dust wrapper back strip. Tape residue to perimeters of front and rear pastedown. Library bookplates to front pastedown, rear pastedown, and rear free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Library stamp to impression page. Pages clean and bright.
