From the library of Arthur Noel Cumberbatch, with his ink inscripiton to the recto to the front endpapers. Letters signed from Sir Reader Bullard to Cumberbatch are present, with an invitation to Bullard's 90th birthday part. Bullard's obituary is tipped onto another leaf. Arthur Noel Cumberbatch was prominent in the Army during the First World War, receiving many medals. Cumberbatch is mentioned on page 242 of this work.
The autobiography of the British diplomat Sir Reader Bullard. During his long career, Bullard had diplomatic positions in Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Greece, Ethiopia, Russia, and Morocco.
Illustrated with nine plates. Collated, complete.
Newspaper review of the book is adhered to the recto to the front free endpaper, from the Daily telegraph on the 2nd June 1961.
Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding, in the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, smart. Very light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. A few minor marks to the boards and spine. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front endpaper. Newspaper clipping adhered to the recto to the front free endpaper. Dustwrapper is a little torn to the folds, with a chip to the head of the rear wrap. Light edgewear to the dustwrapper. Some light discolouration to the dustwrapper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
