What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, Signed, With Dustwrapper

The first edition of this work. The gripping story of a man who lost everything he had. What will a damaged man do to himself and others to adapt in a post-war world in which he does not fit? This tautly written account of a fallen hero is a remarkable piece of fiction by Nina Bawden. Bawden's work has always been praised by many; she was shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 1987 and 2010, and is one of the very few who has served as both a Booker judge as well as a Shortlist author.

Inscribed by the author to front free endpaper: "For dear Juliet, with innate affection - and gratitude for encouragement and advice and help. Nina," dated September 1961.

With unclipped dustwrapper.
