First edition. Published in paperback form preceding the first hardcover by over twenty years. This exciting Western tells the story of an Apache man, John Russell, who leads the passengers of an attacked stagecoach through the desert and on to safety. This work was critically acclaimed upon release and is now regarded as a classic of the Western genre. It was adapted into a motion picture starring Paul Newman in 1967. Written by Elmore Leonard, an American novelist, screenwriter, and short story writer, known for his early Westers, crime fiction, and suspense thrillers.

Condition

In the original pictorial paper binding. Externally, very smart with light shelf wear to the extremities only. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Bookseller's ink stamp to the front endpaper.
