The first edition of this work, an uncommon volume. Dealing with some of the most famous unsolved murder mysteries, such as the shooting of officer Lundy, the Melbourne mystery, the killing of Serge Rubinstein, and many others. John Godwin offers an in-depth study of the events surrounding and involving each case.
A special copy, inscribed in pencil with marginal notes by a previous owner, who analyses the hints and people involved presented by Godwin, particularly for the cases of 'the General's Lady' and 'The Melbourne Mystery'. The rear blank leaves and endpapers, as well as four extra leaves loosely inserted are filled with summaries of facts and hypothesis on what happened by the same hand.

Condition
In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear only, lightly bumped to extremities of spine and boards. Dust wrapper sound with minor shelf wear, lightly chipped to extremities. 'Angela Hepburn' ink inscription to front free endpaper, dated 1961. Internally, firmly bound. Marginal pencil annotations particularly to pp. 31-47 and 59-69, with inscriptions in pencil to rear endpapers and blank leaves. Pages otherwise bright and clean.
