The first edition of this charming work illustrated with reproductions of paintings and drawings by Juliet McLeod, distinguished painter of horses. McLeod has also written the descriptions for this book and notes to accompany each plate, forming an encyclopaedia of horses that were winners of races, champions of the show-ring, and notable equine personalities such as Pompey and Winston. 

Illustrated with twenty-eight full page plates in colour and thirty-two in black and white, as well as illustrations in text. Collated, complete. 

With the unclipped dust wrapper.

Condition

In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally lovely with minor shelf wear only and a minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. The dust wrapper is unclipped and smart with only minor shelf wear and some rubbing, some marking to the rear wrap. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. Illustrated with twenty-eight full page plates in colour and thirty-two in black and white, as well as illustrations in text. Collated, complete.
