Churchill's memoirs of the Second World War were originally published in six volumes between 1948 and 1954, and are to this day viewed as significant works of twentieth century history.
In this work Churchill's account of the war has for the first time been condensed into a single volume, with the addition of a new epilogue written by Churchill detailing the years 1945 to 1957, for which he was paid the impressive sum of £20,000.
Illustrated throughout with a number of map detailing the manoeuvres of the armies involved.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding, with price clipped dust wrapper. Externally, exceptionally smart with light shelf wear to back strip head and tail. Rubbing to dust wrapper front joint, with minor discolouration to back strip. Foxing to dust wrapper reverse, with a small stain to head of reverse of rear wrap, indiscernible from the front. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
