A fine example of this important twentieth century novel. 'Cider with Rosie' is the first book of a trilogy by Lee, which continues with 'As I Walked Out One Midsummer Morning' and 'A Moment of War'. It is set following the First World War in the Gloucestershire village of Slad, where Lee spent his childhood.

The first suppressed issue, with the mention of 'a fire at the piano-works almost every year' to page 272. Following the initial printing, Lee was sued for libel, and the passage was subsequently removed.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. With unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, fine. Dustwrapper is also fine with just some minor shelfwear to the head and tail of spine. Bookplate to the front pastedown, Alice Rye, November 1959. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright. A few instances of light spotting to the margins.
