Publishers' Original Binding

A two volume set of the Dictionary of National Biography. In the publisher's original cloth binding. With a large stamp to the front endpaper of volume I that reads 'This book is property of the CLARENDON PRESS PRODUCTION OFFICE LIBRARY and therefore must not be removed from this office'. The first published in 1959 covers the years 1931 to 1940, and the second volume published in 1970 covering in years 1941-1950. The Dictionary of National Biography is a reference work that explores the lives of notable figure of British history. The first volume of the dictionary was published in the late 19th century. A lovely example of this important biographical reference work.

Condition

In the publisher' original cloth binding. Externally smart with light bumping to the head and tail of the spine, and also to the extremities. Patches of very light rubbing to the joints, and extremities. Ink inscription to the front endpaper of volume II. Internally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
