A very smart first edition set of three 'Boy's Own Companion' books. Each in their original unclipped dust wrappers.
The contents include adventure stories, notes on how to practise nature study, sports and games; instructions for how to make items including a model hovercraft; puzzles and quizzes and much more.
No. 3 includes a Biggles story by Captain W. E. Johns titled 'Biggles Chinese Puzzle'.
Edited by Jack Cox, who also edited the last issues of the British story paper 'The Boy's Own Paper' from 1946-1967. The first volume of this set contains the 'best of B. O. P', with it including only stories and articles that have appeared during his editorship.
Each volume is illustrated profusely throughout with a great mixture of photographs and illustrations.
Condition
In the original cloth binding. In the original unclipped dust wrappers. Externally, very smart. With light rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Dust wrappers are smart, with a few closed tears to the wraps of 'Best of B. O. P' and No. 3. Instances of chipping to the spine heads and tails, heaviest to No. 3, with an additional large chip to the rear panel. Handling marks to the wraps. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
