First Edition, With Dustwrapper
The first edition of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. The third novel of the Alexandria Quartet, and also the "longest, the most entertaining, and not the least overwhelming of the first three novels" according to the dust wrapper. Set in Alexandria around the Second World War, the story told in all four novels is essentially the same, but from different points of view, to reach a conclusion in Clea. This book is the only one written in a third person narrative and is the most overtly political.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is in lovely bright condition, with only very light shelf wear to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with a scattering of spots to the fore edge. Dust wrapper remains bright but is chipped to the head and tail of the spine and to the folds.
