First edition. Illustrated with three hundred and fifty-eight plates, many of which are in colour. Collated complete. A catalogue of the furniture of the Irwin Untermyer Collection in New York, Untermyer was an American attorney, jurist, and civic leader. This work contains references to clocks, beds, seating, mirrors, lighting, tables, cabinets, commodes, and more. With an introduction by John Gloag, an English writer in the fields of furniture design and architecture, as well as science and speculative fiction. Notes and comments by Yvonne Alix Hackenbroch, a British museum curator and historian of jewellery.
Condition
In the original quarter cloth binding with paper covered boards. Externally, very smart with minor wear to the extremities. The odd small mark to the boards. Original unclipped dust wrapper is worn with chipping and the odd small closed tear to the extremities. Light loss to the head and tail of the spine as well as the panel edges. Light sunning to the spine with the odd small mark to the panels. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with light scattered spotting to the first and last few pages.
