The first edition of this work. Autobiographical novel by Evelyn Waugh narrating of a period of hallucinations caused by bromide intoxication experienced by the author in 1954. During these periods, he saw himself during a sea voyage taken by Pinfold and is tormented by voices that insult, taunt, and threaten him. 

Complete with price clipped dust wrapper.

Condition

In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally lovely with minor shelf wear, light bumping to head and tail of spine. Dust wrapper price clipped and smart with some shelf wear, chipped to head and tail of spine and extremities. Small bookseller sticker to front pastedown. Minor faint spotting scattered to upper margin first few leaves, pages otherwise bright and clean.
