First Edition, With Dustwrapper
The first edition, first impression of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original price-clipped dust wrapper. This work is a roman à clef, set in a fictionalised Palm Springs, where the protagonist experiences the moral depravity of the Hollywood elite. The author Norman Mailer (1923-2007) drew on his own experiences working as a screenwriter in Hollywood from 1949 to 1950.
Condition
In publisher's original cloth binding, with original price-clipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is mostly bright and smart, except for some fading to the head and tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with some spotting to the fore edge, affecting the occasional page. Dust wrapper is somewhat spotted, with chipping to the head and tail of the spine, and tears to the front and rear of the wrap.
