Description

First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper, With Letter

This work follows the tale of Trevor Baxter, an ex-pilot turned detective living in world where Europe has lost a war. He rebels against the State by falling in love with Gillian; but the State won't allow this to go unquestioned...

James Barlow (1921-1973) was a British novelist, known for the works 'Term of Trials', 'The Patriots' and 'The Protagonists'. This was his second novel, and enjoyed critical acclaim.

Enclosed is a typewritten letter dated 1957 from the author to a Mr. Fenby (possibly Charles Fenby, a journalist), offering this copy up as a review copy. The letter is signed.

Condition

In the publisher's original full cloth binding, with an unclipped dust wrapper and letter from the author enclosed. Externally lovely, minor wear only. Dust wrapper has a chip running down the right joint, and otherwise a little wear to the head and tail of the spine; internally it has a few spots and a little ink discolouration. Internally firmly bound, pages are bright and clean.
