Description

Illustrated, With Dustwrapper

E. Nesbit (1858-1924) was an English poet and children's author, writing and collaborating on over sixty works for children. As well as 'Five Children and It', one of her most famous works, she wrote 'The Railway Children', 'The Enchanted Castle' and 'The Magic City'.

This work was first published in the Strand magazine in 1902, before being expanded into a novel. It was followed with two sequels. The plot follows a group of children who have recently moved to the countryside as they stumble across a sand-fairy, the Psammead, and their subsequent adventures.

Illustrated with full page drawings throughout by H. R. Millar.
