Leather Binding

In the original Latin. Complete in three volumes. A photolithographic facsimile of the Amsterdam edition of 1657. A collection of pedagogical works summarizing the result of the author's lifelong efforts to encourage the education of the youth and to improve the human condition through further education. With volumes one and two containing the works themselves, and volume three containing commentary on the work. Written by John Amos Comenius, a Moravian philosopher, pedagogue and theologian who is considered the father of modern education. He served as the last bishop of the Unity of the Brethren before becoming a religious refugee, and is remembered as one of the earliest champions of universal education.

Condition

In the original quarter calf binding with beige cloth boards. Externally, very smart with light shelf wear and minor bumping to the extremities. The odd mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd mark to the endpapers. Minor age toning to the endpapers.
