First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

Illustrated throughout, with drawings by Ronald Searle. This play is a satire on McCarthyism which was first performed on the radio on Canada. The play eventually was broadcast in the U.K where shortly after this edition was published. This is Reuben Ship's bet known work, it lamboons the Army-Mccarthy Hearings and the anticommunist paranoia of the Second red Scare. Ronald Searle was a British artist and satirical cartoon artist. He created the famous St Trinian's School and collaborated with Geoffrey Willans on the Molesworth series. Searle received many critical recognition for his work especially in America. He won the National Cartoonists Society's Advertising and Illustration Award in 1959 and 1965, The Reuben Award in 1960 and many more.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding and held in original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, bumped to the extremities. Dustwrapper is age toned to edges. Sunning to the spine. Light rubbing to the joints. Date stamp to the recto of front endpaper, 6690 Jun 56. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
