Second edition, revised and enlarged. In the publisher's original cloth binding, held in the original price-clipped dustwrapper. A profusely illustrated work of natural history, documenting the butterflies of the Malay Peninsula. Illustrated with 55 plates. Collated complete. In addition there are numerous black and white in-text illustrations throughout. Written by Alexander Steven Corbet, the chemist and naturalist who became an expert on the butterflies of Malaysia. Corbet co-authored this work by with H. M. Pendlebury. This being the second edition of this work, it was edited by N. D. Riley the Keeper of Entomology at the British Museum.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with a gilt butterfly to the front board, and held in the original price clipped dustwrapper. Externally smart, with light bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Light patches of rubbing to the extremities. Small mark to the front pastedown. The dustwrapper is worn, with chipping to the head and tail of the spine, resulting in loss to the head of the spine and also to the head of the front and rear joints. Small tide mark to the tail of the spine. Sunning to the spine, with rubbing to the front and rear joints. Tidemark to the rear of the wrap, to the tail. Light cockling to the front of the wrap. Patches of rubbing across the front and rear of the wrap. Small tear to the head of the front fly leaf joint. The odd mark internal to the wrap. Internally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
