A History of the English Speaking Peoples, written by Winston Churchill.

A History of the English Speaking Peoples is a four volume history of Britain and its former colonies and possessions throughout the world. The volumes cover the period  from Caesar's invasions of Britain in 55 BC to the end of the Second Boer War in 1902. 

Volume I, A History of the English Speaking Peoples, The Birth of Britain was published in 1956 and covers the Norman Invasion, William the Conqueror and The End of the Feudal Age and is illustrated with ten maps and genealogical tables. This is a second edition copy published a month after the first edition in May 1956. 

Volume II, A History of the English Speaking Peoples, The New World was first published in 1956 and covers the Renaissance and Reformation, The Civil War and The Restoration and has five maps and genealogical tables. This is a first edition copy from 1956. 

Volume III, A History of the English Speaking Peoples, The Age of Revolution, covers the periods between 1688 to 1815 and considers England's advance to world power, the first British Empire and Napoleon. With nineteen maps and genealogical tables. This is a first edition copy published in 1957. 

Volume IV, A History of the English Speaking Peoples, The Great Democracies, covers recovery and reform, the Great Republic and the Victorian Age. With thirteen maps. This is a first edition copy published in 1958. 

Collated, complete. 

All four copies are in the original unclipped dust wrappers.

Condition

All four vols are in the publisher's original binding. Externally, smart. Some light marks to the front boards of vol.ii and iii. Vol. i has a previous owner inscription to the front free endpaper dated January 1957. Internally, all are firmly bound. There is some spotting to first few pages of vol. ii, vol. iii and iv but pages remain bright. All are in the original unclipped dust wrappers which are all faded to the spine. Some chipping to the heads and tails of vol. iv, ii and i. Some light spotting to the wraps of vol. ii and iii. With some marks to the reverse of vol. i dust wrapper.
