What Our Customers Say...

Description

Colour Plates, Early Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

Third Edition, with a new appendix section and a chapter on the Eskimo people.

Illustrations include one colour frontispiece and over one-hundred and thirty full-page and in-text illustrations, seven of which are coloured plates of tribal chiefs.

With a large folding map held in a pocket adhered to the rear paste downs, which shows the 'Aborigines of Canada', and their linguistic families and tribal locations.

This is a wonderful work which covers the political, social, cultural, and economic aspects of Indian and Eskimo life in Canada. Originally published in 1932, it proved so popular that it was expanded upon and made into later editions.

Contents include 'Languages', 'Archaeological Remains', 'Agricultural Tribes of the Eastern Woodlands', and 'The Eskimo'.

Written by Diamond Jenness (1886-1969), a pioneer of Canadian anthropology and one of Canada's greatest early scientists. Jenness studied different groups of people in Papua New Guinea, as well as Canada.
