First edition. Illustrated throughout by the author. Set in the carefree world of the French Riviera in the Roaring Twenties, The Boy Friend is a comic pastiche of 1920s shows, in particular early Rodgers and Hart musicals such as The Girl Friend. Written by Alexander Galbraith "Sandy" Wilson, an English composer and lyricist. With a preface by Vida Hope, a British stage and film actress, who also directed stage productions.

Condition

In the original full blue cloth binding. Externally, very smart with minor bumping to the extremities and light fading to the spine. Original price-clipped dust wrapper is smart with light wear and minor chipping to the extremities. Sunning to the spine and the odd small mark to the panels. Light spotting to the rear panel. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd spot. Light age toning to the endpapers.
