'Some Prefer Nettles' follows the downfall of a couple's relationship as they ponder separation and divorce.

This is considered to be the most autobiographical novel of Tanizaki, and also one of his finest novels. Additionally, this translation by Seidensticker is critically acclaimed as important and landmark translations.

Junichiro Tanizaki is one of the most important and influential Japanese novelists of all time, his novels being shocking for their time due to the erotic subjects and portrayals of the dynamic of family life in the twentieth century, as Japan was rapidly changing.

In the original publisher's paper wraps. Externally, smart, with a little discolouration and a couple of spots to the wraps. A touch of wear to the head and tail of the spine. Light spots to the fore edge. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. pages are bright and clean.
