Description

First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Scarce, With Dustwrapper

The first edition of this scarce work.

In the original price-clipped dust wrapper.

A collection of thrilling tales by Annette Kerner, recounting some of her adventures as a detective.

The first story in this collection discusses the crimes of Billy Chang, who was a drug dealer who provided the fatal drugs to both Freda Kempton and Billie Carleton.

Annette Kerner was the founder of the Mayfair Detective Agency, who started her career as a detective when she flirted with a fellow passenger whilst crossing the channel. The passenger happened to be an intelligence officer who was on the boat keeping an eye on a suspected spy - this man tasked Annette with stealing the spy's suitcase, which she did successfully and calmly.

Kerner is known for donning many disguises as a detective, posing as an opium addict, a charlady, a society hostess, a modest widow, and more. Her offices for the Mayfair Detective Agency were on Baker Street, only a few doors down from 221B.

Illustrated with four plates.

Collated, complete.

Including a foreword by Lady Docker.
