A lovely series of twenty-four colour plates selected from "Choix des Plus Belles Fleurs et des Plus Beaux Fruits". Together with Pierre-Joseph Redoute's original preface.
In the scarce original cloth and with the publisher's original clipped dust wrapper.
The work opens with mini illustrations of each work alongside short descriptions of the species' characteristics and origins. The remainder of the work comprises colour prints of a selection of the most beautiful artwork from this famous botanical painter.
Collated, complete.
Condition
In the original cloth binding. In the original clipped dust wrapper. Externally, very smart. With slight bumping to the extremities and discolouration to the cloth edges. Dust wrapper is generally smart, with edge wear, a few scattered spots and marks to the wrap. With a couple chips and small closed tears to the wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with light offsetting to the endpapers.
