The first edition, held in original unclipped dustwrapper. Dustwrapper design by Ronald Searle. This comedy follows Fry's previously popular works 'The Lady's Not For Burning' and 'Venus Observed'. This work is based on an imaginary incident during the Austro-Hnugarian Empire in 1848-9.
Condition
In the original full cloth binding and held in original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, bumped to the head and tail of spine. Dustwrapper is generally smart. Light chips to the head of spine as well as bumping. Spine is sunned with some further marks to the extremities. Closed tear to the rear wrap at head. Dustwrapper is also lightly rubbed. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright. Light offsetting to endpapers. Pages are bright and clean.
