This work provides a first hand account of the 1953 British expedition to Mount Everest by their leader John Hunt. Hunt was invited to lead the expedition by the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force, to which he was employed, replacing Eric Shipton after his unsuccessful attempt on Cho Oyu.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally very smart with only slight bumping to the extremities of the boards and slight fading to the head and tail of the spine. Very light offsetting to the front and rear free endpapers with spotting to the pastedowns and a bookplate belonging to Michael Bryant to the front pastedown. The wrap is sound with fading to the spine, closed tears to the head, chipping to the head and tail, creasing to the extremities and light handling marks. Internally firmly bound with lightly age toned pages and the odd spot. Spotting to the fore edge.
