A large work comprising twenty-four colour plates that offer a satisfying display of some of the roses painted by Belgian-born artist and botanist, Pierre-Joseph Redoute.
Redoute was best known for his watercolours of lilies and roses, publishing his famous works 'Les Liliacees' and 'Les Roses'. He was also an official court artist of Marie Antoinette and Josephine Bonaparte.
Selected and introduced by Eve Mannering.

Condition
In the publisher's wraps. With the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, smart, with light edge wear and spotting to the extremities. Dust wrapper is heavily worn, with the front and rear panel detached at the spine. With chipping and scattered spotting to the wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean.
