The appendices are written by various participants in the exhibition and comprise a diary of events and an account of preparations for the expedition including oxygen equipment.
This 1953 expedition was the ninth attempt of reaching the summit of Everest, and the first confirmed to have succeeded.

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart with light shelfwear to the joints. Fading to the spine. Dustwrapper is generally smart. Chipping to the head and tail of spine. Fuschia ink spills to the front wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright. Scattered spots to the first and last few pages. Heavy spotting to the fore-edge.
