In French. With an errata to the rear of the work. The first edition of the work. Hilmi Ziya Ulken was a Turkish academic and philosopher who was an influential figure in the development of Turkish theological thought. Ulken gained notoriety for his work 'History of Turkish Contemplation' which mapped Turkish philosophical thought, an area that had previously been ignored by traditional scholarship. However, Ulken is best known for his work regarding philosophical thought of the Islamic faith, writing a number of works on the subject including this one. Ulken is particularity credited for his discussion of Dante's dismissive view of the prophet Muhammed in his Divine Comedy stating Dante himself benefited from the growth of the Islamic faith. A fascinating philosophical work from an important Turkish Islam scholar.
