The first novel in the Foundation series. Rare in this condition.

'Foundation' is a cycle of five interrelated short science fiction stories, together forming an explosive novel.

The stories revolve around the early days of the Foundation, an institute founded by Hari Seldon, a psychohistorian. The Foundation is intended to preserve the best of the galactic civilisation, after the collapse of the Galactic Empire.

Four of these five stories had previously been published in 'Astounding Science Fiction' between 1941 and 1944, all under different titles.

Two further books were published after this work, both consisting of two novellas, with which 'Foundation' forms a trilogy. Asimov later went on to write two further sequels and two prequels to add to the series.

Written by Isaac Asimov, a prolific author of hard science fiction, the most important science fiction author of his generation.
