What Our Customers Say...

Description

Folding Maps, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

Terence Armstrong was a polar geographer and expert on the Russian Arctic. The role of first fellow in the Soviet Arctic Studies at the Scott Polar Research Institute was especially created for him, and he held it between 1947 and 1956. Armstrong was fluent in Russian, and so used original Russian sources to help him develop this book. He led a stud of sea ice in the North-East Passage, looking at it's impact on Russian shipping. 'The Northern Sea Route' looks at the route that the Soviet Union used for their shipping, and the global positive and negative affects from its successes and failures. With three double sided plates, and nine maps throughout. Collated, complete.
