Published in 1952, this work is a travelogue of human settlement across outer space during the later half of the twenty-first century. it follows sixteen-year-old Roy Malcolm, an expert on the history of aviation who wins a prize allows him to request a trip to the inner Station orbiting the Earth.

Arthur C. Clarke (1917-2008) was one of the most widely-acclaimed and celebrated writers of science-fiction, as well as an inventor, explorer and television host. He collaborated with Stanley Kubrick on '2001: A Space Odyssey', inspired by his short story 'The Sentinel'. He was a proponent of space exploration, and as well as his numerous novels and short story collections, wrote many non-fiction works on exploration, the sea and astronautics.

In the publisher's original full cloth binding with an unclipped dust wrapper. Externally generally smart, with a little minor wear to the spine and extremities. Dust wrapper is sunned to the spine, with some chipping to the head and tail resulting in slight loss; otherwise, a little general wear. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
