A very successful two-volume history of the Anglo-Saxons by the historian Robert Howard Hodgkin (1877-1951), best known for Six Centuries of an Oxford College and for this work.
The third edition of this historical work, which was published a year after Hodgkin's death, includes a 48-page appendix on theĀ Sutton Hoo ship-burial by Rupert Bruce-Mitford, the assistant keeper of British and Medieval Antiquities of the British Museum.

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally very smart and bright, with very light fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Plates and folding maps remain smart and bright.
