The very scarce first edition thus of this crime novella from American hard-boiled detective fiction writer Dashiell Hammett.

First published across three 1933 issues of American weekly magazine 'Liberty', this is the first single volume edition of Hammett's story, published under the 'Jonathan Press Mystery' imprint of Lawrence E. Spivak.

This is Jonathan Press Mystery no. 59, and features the three part novelette in one volume, and is in the bright publisher's original paper wraps.

Hammett's short story was adapted into a crime drama film in 1934.

Condition

In the publisher's original paper wraps. Externally, bright. Light rubbing to back strip head and tail, with edge wear to wrap perimeters. Internally, firmly bound. Light tide marks to title page. Pages age toned due to paper type, but clean.
