1951 The River War, An Account of the Reconquest of the Sudan
What Our Customers Say...
Early Edition, Folding Maps, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper
A historical study of the reconquest of Sudan, written by Sir Winston Churchill, first published in 1899, and here in the publisher's original price clipped dust wrapper.
The 1951 printing, the third edition, fourth impression.
The second book ever to be published by Churchill, it provides a history of the conquest of the Sudan between 1896 and 1899 by the Anglo-Egyptian forces led by Lord Kitchener.
This edition is illustrated with twenty-two maps and plans, the majority of which are folding.
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, lovely. Original unclipped dust wrapper is smart, with some light shelf wear and spotting to the flyleaves and interior of the wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Ink to title page has smudged just slightly due to printing error, otherwise pages are bright and clean.
